Washington (CNN)The Justice Department unveiled a new initiative to combat violent crime Tuesday, announcing a deal to provide more federal resources to 12 select cities across the nation.
Notably absent from the list, however, was Chicago -- a city besieged by gun violence and previously the subject of harsh tweets from the President -- nor does it include others with creeping murder rates, such as Baltimore.
Attorney General Jeff Sessions said the new program will specifically focus on reducing gun crime, drug trafficking and gang violence.
"Turning back the recent troubling increase of violent crime in our country is a top priority of the Department of Justice and the Trump administration, as we work to fulfill the President's promise to make America safe again," Sessions said.
The newly created National Public Safety Partnership program will assist prosecutors and local law enforcement, including by providing "diagnostics teams" to assess the factors driving crime at the local level.
The initial 12 cities selected for new program include: Birmingham, Alabama; Indianapolis, Indiana; Memphis, Tennessee; Toledo, Ohio; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Buffalo, New York; Cincinnati, Ohio; Houston, Texas; Jackson, Tennessee; Kansas City, Missouri; Lansing, Michigan and Springfield, Illinois.
Justice Department spokesman Ian Prior explained that the cities were not chosen at random --several were part of an earlier pilot program back in 2014 and the department also considered "both quantitative and qualitative measures, in consultation with United States Attorneys and DOJ law enforcement partners."
"To be considered for selection, a site must have levels of violence that far exceed the national average. PSP sites must also demonstrate a commitment to reducing violent crime and be ready to receive the intensive training and technical assistance available," Prior said.
But the rates of violent crime do differ among the cities chosen -- for example, Lansing is experiencing its lowest murder rate in a decade, whereas the murder rate in Memphis last year was the worst in two decades.
Sessions said that he anticipates additional cities will join the program later this year.
"We have a duty to make sure our country does not abandon all the progress we have made against crime over the past few decades. For many of our fellow citizens, this is literally a matter of life and death," Sessions said.
The announcement came as the department kicked off a two-day summit on policing strategies.
Imagine that cities like Baltimore....Chicago being put on a DOJ crime reduction pilot program later. Later meaning there is no concern for that black death taking place in Baltimore or Chicago. In other words the good ol boy network don't see enough annihilation of black men. Since the war of Iraq and Afghanistan..nearly 2 million Black Men, Woman and Children have died in the black communities across this nation that is known..so many other black lives that are john & jane does are not even accounted for. Unfortunately there will be millions more of Black Men and Women dying in the days...months and years to come. With so much precious life goin to the grave I am reminded of how GOD says in His word...Matt 25:41...."Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. Here in this passage GOD is stating that the lake of fire is set up only for devil and his death demons.
So how is Devil manipulation so many of GODS creation in His Own Image too join him in a place that man don't belong. The purpose for passing the marijuana law was to fulfill a black man's appetite of smokin weed and by doin so the black man then push himself further out of the job market smelling like a toxic plant that takes one's breath away. When this law was passed it had no affect on the corporate community and its hiring practices when it comes to the drug test. You want a job pass a drug test for starters.
Black Men and Women has fallin into an "Identity Crisis", the brothers were known at one time for there high skills and abilities on so many fronts. Black women were known for there high end support by way of there unique skill set on keeping black men balanced, now black men have givin up there position as "Men" and takin a back seat in the position of a child, leaving our sisters no choice but to forcefully take over the household putting the black man in the position of a child and treating him as such.
In the sixties the black man was societies highest priority..if it be by way of the white male fear of us to lead a campaign to wipe us out or many black leaders mounting up making his stake in the home and the community assuring our community to be whole not half. Will those days ever be upon us again?..will we ever see black men and women stand together as one to face the world?...yep in the "New Heaven and New Earth. In the meantime the only thing the "Black Man and Woman" can do to get such an experience today is to learn to Live GOD thru His Kingdom Culture Common Wealth Community called The Kingdom Of GOD!!!!!
